The three men and Lady Nimue continued on their way to the South-west, until they came to a small island. On that island  stood Glastonbury town and its small chapel. And just next to that small chapel  stood a big nunnery with high walls. Merlin went with Nimue to visit that big nunnery, and as they went inside  they met a nun: her clothes were  black and even her head was covered so no one was able to see her face.  After a while Nimue introduced that lady in black to Merlin, and she informed him that her name was Morgana and she was waiting for him in order to learn magic.

Merlin did not say anything; he did not even recognize that the nun was in fact Morgana le Fay:  the youngest daughter of King Gorlios and Queen Igrayne, and also King Arthur's half-sister  . The two ladies and Merlin spent some time together in the nunnery, and he taught them many secrets concerning the world of magic. As they learnt all Merlin’s secrets, the two ladies’ magical powers became much more stronger, while Merlin became old and very weak.

After a short time, Arthur and Sir Gawain left the nunnery and went to visit the abbey. When they entered  they  found an abbess, and she welcomed them. She also took them to the centre of the abbey, where she showed them the Holy Well. The abbess stood near the Holy Well and informed Arthur and his companion that a long time ago a man called Joseph of Arimathea came to visit Glastonbury and he brought with him the Holy Grail and put it near the Holy Well. The lady stopped for a while, then she continued speaking and said that the Holy Grail had been stolen, and only the purest knight could find it when there were troubles in the kingdom. The abbess also informed them that the Holy Grail could stop all troubles, and also bring peace and justice to the kingdom.

It was time to return  to Camelot, so the three men and the two ladies prepared themselves and rode towards King Arthur’s castle. Half-way there, Merlin the magician stopped and told Arthur that he would not go with him to Camelot, so Arthur asked him what the reason was.  Merlin answered Arthur and told him that it was the right moment for King Arthur to rule his kingdom by himself, and he would ride with the two ladies far away. Arthur felt so sad and totally demoralized but Merlin promised him that he would visit him just before Whitsun to attend his marriage.
