Hélicoptère

   THE HELICOPTER

A helicopter, also called a chopper in military slang , is a special type of aircraft.There is a great contrast between the chopper and most other aircrafts. It is powered by two  rotors.

One rotor is located on top of the aircraft; the other is on the aircraft's tail. Each rotor rotates, or spins around, in a fast circular motion enabling the aircraft to move. In fact, the rotary or spinning movement of the rotors' blades provides lift for the helicopter.

Helicopters can move upward, downward, sideways, forward, and backward. This backward, or reverse movement is one of several special functions of helicopters. Another function is that it can suspend itself in the air without moving; it can hover or remain still in the air. Because they have these special abilities, choppers can hoist, or lift, heavy objects such as machinery.
