Exercice 51/Still a rest
Message de here4u posté le 21-08-2015 à 22:20:18 (S | E | F)
Hello!

A few more days for most before resuming activities and the "rat race"...

all of you, the faithful ones, the newcomers who are all welcome... You know that anglaisfacile.com never stops... You've worked hard and regularly and your messages tell me you liked it and want to go on...
That's why I've decided to post this 51 a little early, so that you may have enough time to finish it (or skip it!) before serious things start again in September.
It's a and the collective correction will be on Monday, August 31st..
Go for it! and have fun!
I) Translate into English:

Oui, oui, oui ! C'est parti !

II) Will you help Susie, correcting her possible errors?
Little Susie took the plane...

Oh, yes, I'll remind this flying forever, my first... I held my ant's hand tigthly. I were scarred but did not tell it. Under we, the cloud, like muttons, lookt so bright and cozy. I fell like roll in them...
In the other hands, I hold a blue ‘smurf sweet’ to be ate at signal, for landing. I was a few frighten, but loved the flying.

III) Last abascus for this year …(same instructions as for the preceding ones.)

Hello.
Thank you for this new exercise;here is my correction.
Oh, yes, I 'll remember this flight forever, my first one.
I held my aunt's hand tightly.
I was scared but did not say it.
Under us , the clouds, like muttons, looked so bright ans cozy. I felt like rolling in them.
In the other hand, I held a blue "smurf sweet" to be eaten on the given landing signal.
I was a little frightened, but loved this flight.

Hello Here.
What about your back home in a pouring rain.I was also in this pouring rain…
Here are the three translated sentences. By all means take them…thank you.

Hum ... Je suis prête !
A little longer of lightness and frivolousness…
Despite a few worrying topics in the news, while working (We never stop). I don’t want to forget the softness of the sea, the lack of watch on my wrist, the foreigner accents all around, the festive atmosphere as well, and The great joy of meeting us again…It will be soon enough I thought about the start of the new school year and also umbrellas within a few days;… Hem !… I am prepared to do that !

I like to be confronted with the difference of cultures and languages, without aggressions or violence.
In Roma, let’s do it like the Romans Never have I thought as much as adaptability so beloved to the Anglo-Saxons, should be taught as a way of living.

Each of us pays attention to those days which draw to a close
and takes stock of your holiday. Have I enough taken advantage of a good rest, the sun ,the admired scenery and people met Am -I relaxed enough to start this New Year , this new class, these months in darkness coldness and stress and moreover this work without a break or just about. Yes yes yes You bet, Consider is done

Hello here4u and everyone here, ready for the last summer homework.
This is mine, finished for me

I) Translate into English:
Again a little lightness, and frivolity ,... despite some worrying subjects in the News, and while working - we never stop ! - I don't want to forget the sweetness of the sea, without watch on my wrist, and listening to foreign accents all around, but also the atmosphere of festival , the happiness to be together again. There will be time to think at the new school year, and umbrellas, in a few days.,.... Hmm, I am ready !
I like to be confronted with the difference of cultures and languages, without any aggressiveness nor violence. In Roma, let's do as Roman people.... - Never have I thought before, that the capacity of adaptation ( flexibility) so important for British, should be taught as a way of life.

Each one looks back and tries to take stock of the situation..... Did I enjoy enough a good rest, the sun, admired landscapes, and people I have met ? Am I rested enough to begin again this new year, this new class, and all these dark months, with the cold, stress, and more work or probably ?
yes, once and for all, Yes, let's go !!!!

II) Will you help Susie, correcting her possible errors?
Oh, yes, I'll remind me of this flying forever, my first one... I held my aunt's hand tightly. I was scared but I did not tell it. Under us, clouds, like sheep, looked so bright and cozy. I felt like roll in them...
In the other hand, I held a blue ‘smurf sweet’ to be eaten at signal, for landing. I was a little frightened, but I loved the flight.

Thanks a lot for this new exercise Here4u, You can correct my possible errors when you can !

hello again here4u; you made me giggle when looking up "rat race" in the dictionary; happily not for us retirees!
here is my try:

I)Translate:
a) A little more thoughtlessness,frivolity...In spite of a few worrying topics in the current affairs, while
working (one never stops working)I do not feel like forgetting the pleasantness of the sea, the absence of
any watch at my wrist, the foreign accents all around, the festive feeling too, the joy of having met again......
We will have time enough to think of the back-to-school season and of umbrellas, within a few days time...Hum...
I am ready!
b)I love being confronted with the differences between cultures and languages, with no agressivity nor violence:
"In Rome let's act like Romans".Never have I thought so much that flexibility _ so dear to the
Anglo-Saxons _ should be taught as a way of life .

c)Everybody is assessing those latest days and is taking stock of his situation........ Have I taken benefit to the full from
relaxing ,sunbathing, admiring lavish countrysides, meeting people? Have I taken sufficient rest in order
to kick off this new year ahead, that new class, those months of darkness,of cold,of stress, of working without respite
or nearly so? Ok,ok,ok!Here we go!!

II)Little Susie took the plane...
Oh,yes,I'llremember this flight forever,my first one..I held my aunt's hand tightly.
I was scared but did not tell it. Under us, the clouds, like sheep, looked so bright and cosy.I felt
like hopping over them...In the other hand I held a blue sweet to be eaten at signal for landing.
I was a little frightened but loved the flight.

Hello Here4u, Hello everybody
Thank you for this new exercise !

I. Into English
A little more casualness and frivolity...
In spite of some worrying topics in the news while working (we never stop) I don't want to forget the softness of the sea, the absence of a watch on my wrist, foreign accents around me, party atmosphere, joy of finding each other again.
It will be time to think of the back-to-school time and umbrellas in a few days..Hum...I'm ready !
I like comparing myself without agressiveness or violence the difference unlike cultures or languages.
" In Rome, do as the Romans do..".
I never thought so often that the adaptability (the flexibility) so dear to the Anglons-Saxons should be taught as a way of living.
Each of us looks back on these past days and makes an inventory of them. Have I well enjoyed rest, admired landscapes, met people ? Am I enough relaxed to start this new school year, this new class, these dark months with cold, stress and unceasingly work or nearly ? Yes, yes, yes. Let's go!

II. Correcting errors
Little Susie took the plane.
Oh yes, I'll remember this flight forever, my first flight..
I held my aunt's hand tightly. I was scared but I didn't tell it. Below us, clouds like sheep looked so bright and cozy. I felt like rolling in them..
In the other hand, I held a blue"smurf sweet" to be eaten at signal, for landing. I was a bit frightened but loved the flight.

Hello,
Just in time before the collective correction Thanks a lot Here4U for this exercise I've just finished but I've got a feeling I've made a few mistakes
I)
A little more casualness and frivolity... Despite a few worrying subjects in the news, while working (we never stop !), I don't feel like forgetting the softness of the sea, the absence of a watch on my wrist, the surrounding foreign accents, the celebratory atmosphere of happiness to meet again as well ... There will be a time for thinking about the back-to-school season and the umbrellas in a few days... Hmm! I'm ready !

I like exposing myself to the difference of cultures and languages without any aggressiveness or violence. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do..." Never have I believed so much that the adaptability (the flexibility), so dear to the Anglo-Saxons, should be taught as a way of life...

Everyone is looking back on these past days and takes stock ... Did I enjoy my rest, the sunshine, the spectacular scenary, the people I met ? Am I rested enough to start this new school year, this new class, these months of darkness, of cold, of stress, of work without respite or almost so ? Yes, yes, yes! Here we go !

Thank you again, dear Here4u, for this new exercise whose theme ( the theme of which) I've found particularly difficult.
I wish you a very pleasant back-to-school first day back at school !

I) Theme:
Still a little casualness, frivolity ( no way to find the right words with my dictionaries ). Despite some serious grounds for concern all over the world at this time, while working ( we never stop!), I don't feel like forgetting the soothing sea, the absence of a watch around my wrist, the foreign accents all around, along with the festive atmosphere and the joy to have found each other again. In a few days, I'll have time enough to think to the back-to-school time and to the umbrellas... Hem...I'm ready!

I like confronting different cultures and languages, but never aggressively or violently. "When in Rome, let's do as the Romans do..." Never have I thought so much that adaptability ( flexibility), so dear to the Anglo-Saxons, should be taught as a way of living.

Everybody is looking back to these past days. Did I take enough advantage of the rest? did I make the most of the sun? did I enjoy enough the scenery, the people I met? Am I rested enough to start this new school year, this new class, those months of darkness, of cold, of stress, of work non-stop or just about? Yes I am! Here we go!

II)Suzy took the plane. Thank you to correct her possible errors:
Oh yes, I'll remember that flight forever, my first one! I was holding my aunt's hand tightly. I was scared but did not say anything. Under us, the clouds, like sheep, looked so bright and cosy that I felt like rolling in them.
In the other hand (and not on the other hand, tricky Here4u! ), I was holding a blue "smurf sweet" to be eaten at the landing signal. I was a little frightened but loved the flight

Ah là là ... lakata me connaît bien ...
Have a great weekend!

Hello Here4u and thank you for this new exercise !

I) Translate into English:
Still, for a touch of lightness and frivolity...
Despite some worrying news in the media ( I keep going on and never stop!), I don't feel like forgetting the smoothness of the sea, the absence of a watch on my wrist, the foreign accents everywhere around, the holiday atmosphere and the joy of meeting up again...
In a few days, it'll be time enough to think about the start of the new academic year, umbrellas...hum... I'm ready.
Without any aggression or violence, I love to take on cultural and linguistic differences. "In Rome, do as the Romans do"… Never before had I thought so much about adaptability (flexibility), so dear to the Anglo-Saxons. It should be taught as a way of life.
Each person watches the days pass by and takes stock...
Have I well benefited from the rest, the sunshine, the landscapes I admired, the people I met ?
Have I rested enough to start a new academic year, this new course, the months of darkness, of cold and stress, working without a break. Yes, yes, yes, I have... let's go !

II) Will you help Susie, correcting her possible errors?

Hello you all!

Here is the collective correction I had promised... I must admit it took me quite long to do it, as you're very inventive... and motivated! but so am I!
You had a few problems with the translation (qui est un thème, pas une version!) I tried to develop as much as I could in the individual corrections but tried to do the synthesis here.

I) Translate into English:

Hum ... Je suis prête !

Let me enjoy a little lack of concern and frivolity a little longer… In spite of a few very worrying topics in the news, as we’re working, (we never stop!) I’m not feeling like forgetting the warmth of the sea, the absence of a watch on my wrist, foreign accents all around, the festive atmosphere, and the joy of seeing each other again… It will soon enough be time /to think/ we thought about resuming work, school, or activities, carrying umbrellas again in a few days’ time. Well, well… I’m ready for that…

- Légèreté = insouciance=> thoughtlessness/casualness/carelessness/ unconcern/lack of concern
- sujets préoccupants : worrying subjects/topics/
- l’actualité = current affairs/the News : : the News = indénombrable singulier : ‘Here is the News’; 'the News is given by Dan Rather' ; 'the News is good'.
- avoir envie de = to feel like + V + ing
- the absence of A watch = obligatoire /wearing no watch on my wrist.
- To be/time/high time/about time/ + preterit modal qui indique l’irréel dans le moment present ;l'infinitif est moins formel.
‘A few days’ time’.

I like facing different cultures and languages, without the least tinge of aggressiveness or violence. “When in Rome, let’s do as the Romans do!” Never have I been so persuaded that the adaptability, the flexibility Anglo-Saxons are so keen on, should really be taught over here as a way of living…

- Being face to face with/ comparing/ confronting (est un peu trop belligérant)
- ‘agressivité’ = ‘aggressiveness’
- Proverbe anglais = ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do’ = se conformer aux habitudes locales, sans ‘faire de vagues’ ni de provocation.
- 'être enseigné’= passif : to be taught. to teach, I taught, taught.

Oui, oui, oui ! C'est parti !

Each one of us looks back on these past days and takes stock… Have I really taken advantage of the rest I could have, the sun, the landscapes I admired, the people I met? Have I relaxed enough to start this new work-year, this new class, these coming months of darkness, cold, stress, relentless work (or quite so …) ? Yes! Yes, yes! I’ll go for that …

- regarder en arrière = to look back on …
- faire un bilan = to assess/ evaluate/appraise/take stock/is appraising/ evaluating
- profiter de : enjoy/benefit by/take advantage of
- tireless /Unceasing /relentless work
- 'I’ll go for it!’ = je prends! je fonce! j’y vais! Plus moderne que ‘let’s go’

II) Will you help Susie, correcting her possible errors?
Little Susie took the plane...

Oh, yes, I'll remind(1) this flying(2) forever, my first (3)... I held(4) my ant's(5) hand tigthly(6). I were scarred(7) but did not tell it(8). Under we(9), the cloud(10), like muttons(11), lookt(12) so bright and cozy(13). I fell(14) like roll(15) in(16) them.
In the (17) other hands(18), I hold(19) a blue ‘smurf sweet’ to be ate(20) at signal, for landing(21). I was a few(22) frighten(23), but loved the flying(24).

Oh yes! I’ll remember this flight forever, my first one actually… I was holding my aunt’s hand tightly. I was scared, but didn’t say it/didn’t tell her. Below us, the clouds, like sheep, were looking so bright and cosy… I was feeling like rolling into them…
In my other hand, I was holding a blue ‘smurf sweet’ to be eaten at the landing signal… I was a little frightened, but loved the flight.

(8) 'Didn’t tell her’ serait correct, puisque l’interlocuteur serait connu et mentionné ; ou ‘didn’t say it’ interlocuteur non connu …
(9) 'We' = forme sujet => complément = 'us'.
12) looked = Susie avait écrit en phonétique.
13) cosy GB /cozy US et Susie est British, of course !
14) fell = confusion de to fall, fell, fallen = tomber ; to feel, felt, felt, sentir, ressentir.
15) to feel like + V+ ing
16) to roll into the clouds
17) Attention donc !
20) to be eaten = être mangé.
21) at signal for landing. Hugh …
23) to be frightened = être effrayé.
24) ‘the flying’ on l’a déjà vu, = the flight.

Susie needs practising … she’s still a very little girl …

III) Last abacus for this year…

1 T-----------C--------------------A--------S------T------------------------

8-------O-----P-------N-----G---------------E------O--------N-------A-------
9-E-----------I-------------H------R--------L------F--------G-------N-------
10Y-----T-----T-------G-----T---------------T------F----------------T------- Tout bien en lignes ... Qu'en restera-t-il?

1. Trolley = chariot, carry-on luggage.
2. Pilot = un pilote
3. Cockpit = le cockpit
4. Wing = une aile
5. flight = un vol
6. air = l’air
7. seatbelt = ceinture de sécurité
8. take off = le décollage

I hope it will help most of you... Thanks for the good work! You're great!
