Here is the story of four people called Somebody, Anybody,Nobody and Everybody.
There was something important to be done and Everybody was asked (bidden) to have a go at it.Everybody thought that Somebody would take care of it for sure! But although Anybody could do it(could have done it serait plus logique d'ailleurs), in fact, Nobody did. Thus, Somebody really got mad about it for it was after all Everybody's business.Anyone could have done it,Everybody thought, but Nobody realized that Everybody would dispense with it.("pass the buck" in American)

It entailed that Everybody blamed Somebody whereas Nobody actually did what Anybody could easily have done.

The seven commmandments:

Anything walking on two legs is an enemy.
Anything walking on all fours and with wings is a friend.
--3 ) Aucun animal ne portera de vêtements . No animal shall wear any clothes.
--4 ) Aucun animal ne dormira dans un lit . No animal shall sleep in a bed.
--5 ) Aucun animal ne boira d'alcool. No animal shall drink any alcohol.
--6 ) Aucun animal ne tuera un autre animal. No animal shall kill a fellow/another/ animal.
--7 ) Tous les animaux sont égaux . All animals are equal.

Some time later, the rain had erased all the commandments but a single one which appeared very clearly in capital letters:

All animals are equal but some are more equal than others.

Hello Violet,
It's a pleasure to read you again !

1.Shall we play indefinitely?

Here is the story of four persons called Somebody, Anybody, Nobody and Everybody.
There was an important work to do and Everybody was prayed to do it. Everybody was sure that Somebody will do it. Anybody could do it, in fact, Nobody has it done. So, Somebody were found angry because it was the matter of Everybody. Anybody could do it thought Everybody but Nobody understood that Everybody will do it.
It ends with Everybody sets about Somebody when Nobody has done that Anybody could do.

2.Seven commandments

1. Anything on two legs is an enemy.
2. Everything on four legs or has wings is a friend.
3. No animal wear clothes.
4. No animal shall sleep in a bed.
5. No animal shall drink alcohol.
6. No animal shall kill another animal.
7. All animals are equal.

After a meantime, the rain has erased all of commandments except only one of them which appeared so clearly in capital letters :
ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE EQUALER THAN THE OTHERS.

It was so funny to translate it. I have ever read The Animal Farm, a wonderful story !
Violet for these memories...

Hello dear violet,

Firstly, I wish you a very good year again.
Here is my contribution (with baby on my laps).

THis is the story of 4 persons whose names are somebody, anybody, nobody and everybody.
There was an important task to do (or accomplish) and Everybody was asked to do it.
Everybody was sure somebody would do it. Anybody could do it, in fact, Nobody did it.
So, Somebody got angry, because it was Everybody's task.
Anybody could have done it, thought Everybody, but Nobody understood that Everybody would do it.
The conclusion is that Everybody got mad at Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

the seven principles or commandements
Les sept commandements

1 ) whatever goes upon two legs is an ennemy
2 ) whatever goes upon four legs and wings is a friend
3 ) animals shall not wear clothing
4 ) animals shall not sleep in a bed
5 ) animals shall not drink alcohol
6 ) Animals shall not kill other animals
7 )all animals are equal

Some time later, the rain had erased all commandements BUT ONE, appearing clearly in capital letters
All animals are equal but certain animal are more equal than others.

Sans vouloir abuser, quelle est la différence entre firstly et first off ?(terme que j'entends souvent dans les séries).

Merci encore pour ces exercices.

Here I am, at last.
Hello dear all and many friendly thanks to those who did these two small pieces of easy English
. That was a change, wasn't it ?

................ ............. (marble statue in Sperlonga/Italy )

A clever and cunning man !

Donc ironiquement , on dit '

....................Shall we play with English indefinite pronouns ? ....Thème I.
........................................What about playing with English indefinite pronouns ? ....

A definitely tricky story !

-- This is the story of four people named Somebody , Anybody , Nobody and Everybody .
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it ! Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it !

Anybody could have done it , but Nobody did it ! Somebody got angry about that , because it was Everybody's job !

Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realised that Everybody would do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done !

A décrypter.

Hello friends (16) and new comers ( 3 and do come back ! Glad to see you here, headway),

Excellent exercice oral , I can tell.

1 ) Par définition , les quantifieurs indéfinis ( some, any, not any or no)et pronoms indéfinis sont imprécis.

- I have got some work to do. / I can count some people improving ( en progrés). - Somebody is coming tonight./ Someone has stolen my car.

- b ) En forme interrogative : any ou anybody ?

.. Have you got any coffee ?
...( Is there)Anybody in there ? dit le grand méchant loup .( the Big Bad Wolf)
...Or ' Is there anybody out there' . comme chez les Pink Floyd ( flamand) dans le film très fort ' The wall' .( appel désespéré)
Lien internet
- 2 mn30

- Would you like some milk with your tea ? ( on sait qu'il y en a).

- Did somebody break the rules ?( transgressé)( oui,le ' quelqu'un' est implicitement existant).

'Can somebody help me ?' laisse entendre que quelqu'un va forcément aider, tandis que 'Can someone help me ?' reste plus pessimiste .

-c ) Forme négative : not ..any , no /ou not ...anybody = nobody, noone.

-There isn't any bread left. I must go the the baker's.
-Oh! dear! There is no bread left , sorry.
- There isn't anybody in there./There is nobody (at all) in there.(une seule négation).

Anybody can come here : he/she wil be welcome.

= EVERYBODY NEEDS LOVE !

They never say what they think.
What is important is health.
What he enjoys are the holidays.
Tell me what you did yesterday.
What is surprising is his colour.( a little green man)
Mark drives too fast, which I don't like.
This child doesn't stop crying, which is tiring.
His wife always stays calm, which he admires.
My computer has once again broken down, which I find very annoying.

Everything that is in that box is for you.
All that I want is some rest.

This significant excerpt of ' The seven commandments' shows it clearly.

.........Or:

Cf. ' Tell me more English'. Posté avec précaution. Ah ? J' ignorais, sans doute...
