They sidled up to a shoe kiosk at Marcy's Grand Court last holiday season, holding empty shopping bags and their breaths. Though nervous, Victoria Burhman and her friends tried not to look suspicious.
''We faked as if we actually were shopping'', recalls the 17 year old Woodstown resident. ''We would touch things to make it look like we were shopping.'' But they had little intention of buying anything.
In fact, they and about 650 complices came to the Center City site to sell something instead a spectacle that shocked and stopped busy holiday shoppers at the foot of the Wanamaker Organ. As shoppers on the tree floors of the Grand Court united in a rendition of the ''Hallelujah'' chorus from Handel's ''Messiah'', it became clear this was a case of organized chime.
Before disappearing back into the crowd, the performers ended the five minute performance to general applause and with a message: ''You've just experienced a Random Act of Culture''.
The Opera Company of Philadelphia was behind this particular Random Act, a nationwide initiative by the Knight Foundation aimed at taking classical arts out of the theaters and into the community.
Defining these Random Acts as ''a series of unexpected, spontaneous cultural performances in nontraditional settings,'' the Knight Foundation has helped make the zany and unusual common place.

Bonjour,
Résumé de l'action trouvé sur internet:

On Saturday, October 30, 2010, the Opera Company of Philadelphia brought together over 650 choristers to perform one of the Knight Foundation's "Random Acts of Culture" at Macy's in Center City Philadelphia. Accompanied by the Wanamaker Organ - the OCP Chorus and throngs of singers from the community infiltrated the store as shoppers, and burst into a pop-up rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's "Messiah" at 12 noon, to the delight of surprised shoppers.

La dernière ligne de votre texte semble bizarre:
the Knight Foundation has helped make the zany and unusual common place.
je comprendrais mieux : the Knight Foundation has helped make the common place zany and unusual.
Ou alors, il manque des mots.

Merci, mais je viens de vérifier la dernière ligne, elle correspond bien à ce que j'avais écrit avant. Bizarre.
