Hello!

Our Story 27

- Jane loves treading the boards, wearing make up, being in character, acting with others, learning her lines, rehearsing endlessly
- until people get the feeling that she can't do any better and she plays her role to near perfection.
- "Perfection," my foot! There's no such thing, she knows it! But the thrill of stage fright with true friends
"Perfection ?"
- who share the same passion and sometimes even more, always gives her the greatest excitement and happiness of her life.
- Her tenth mainstream representation is to take place tonight. However, for the first time, she has a very bad omen.

Our Story 27

Jane loves treading the boards, wearing make up, being in character, acting with others, learning her lines, rehearsing endlessly
until people get the feeling that she can't do any better and she plays her role to near perfection.
"Perfection," my foot! There's no such thing, she knows it! But the thrill of stage fright with true friends who share the same passion and sometimes even more, always gives her the greatest excitement and happiness of her life.
Her tenth mainstream representation is to take place tonight. However, for the first time, she has a very bad omen. She really couldn't explain why: she was just feeling that. In order not to get overstressed, she decided to drink some vodka before the performance. Unfortunately, one drink turned into two and then three and soon she was completely drunk. She fell asleep and only woke up two hours later. But that time, she was feeling ready!
Alcohol is magical... The live performance was two hours later, and she could hardly utter a single word intelligibly!
So she took a novel out of her bag and started reading aloud. As if that were not enough, she started having strong urges to urinate. "I knew it but I had to", she told herself. "Where are the toilets?"
Her company preferred to send Jane to have a rest, for the audience's safety: alcohol may cause agitation... That night, the performance would be recorded, to broadcast it on TV: no way to go awry with any line! "Jane is the main character: give her some salted coffee, she will sober up! Call Nelly please, just in case Jane hasn't come to her senses!" John, the producer, was in one hell of a state... He bullied everybody... Even Patrick, the playwright couldn't recognise him: the atmosphere was stormy! Djamal calmed things down, making them laugh. He knew that Nelly was ready to play her character. It was no use kicking up a fuss about that...
Nelly arrived, dressed up, made up, and was doing her hair... when Jane reappeared..., not really clear-headed... Unfortunately, alcohol had started acting on her liver, she couln't reach the ladies' room and vomited just in front of Djamal who felt terribly sorry for her because, obviously, she wouldn't be able to act. He caught her, helped her into her dressing-room, and made her drink coffee; meanwhile, he went to his room and thought about what had just happened. Jane was terribly angry: her rival who couldn't measure up to her was about to have the chance of a lifetime. Nelly was about to be showcased on national TV unless an unexpected event could postpone the performance. That's when a huge crash sound could be heard in the theater.
An unstable wooden scenary panel fell down: "God, more fear than damage!" Donald Cardwell, the prop master set it up then, blocked it between two wooden chocks; finally, everyone could resume their reply to the place where they had stopped... In fact, they played from the beginning of the scene for everybody. The audience applauded, cheered and paid tribute to Nelly's smashing performance before Jane's very eyes. THE END
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Evidemment, Jane avait l'air terriblement dépitée.

Something unexpected and unpredictable came up and I'll be AFK (away from keyboard) most of the three coming days... I have no real choice if I want to be able to post the two "corrections"... Sorry !
