Music ---> A form of rebellion ?
Message de lamusica posté le 26-07-2007 à 14:49:59 (S | E | F | I)

Bonjour,
Do you agree that music can be a form of rebellion?

I agree in part that music can be a form of rebellion. In the one hand, I think that music is, first, a form of liberty as everybody can listen music like rap,rock,hard-rock,classical, pop etc. even the poor, the rich or even the sick persons. Music often reflects reality, the life so Music is an expression's liberty.
But on the other hand, I see more and more youngs who hidden behind music.They often (indeed always) listen "hard" music, they also assist at concerts and in these manifestations, they can become in trance so when they listen this music I'm totally sure that it's a form of rebellion, perhaps to contradict parents' advices, to assert oneself... For some people, music rhymes with frame of mind so in so music can become a call of help.

Bonne Chance.

In the one hand, (First, or in the first place)

to contradict parents' advices,? to assert oneself...

(music rhymes with frame of mind so) in so music can become a call of(for) help.

Salut

1/ L'expression "in the one hand" est fausse. Il faut dire "on the one hand", qui est toujours accompagné de "on the other hand" (mais ça tu l'as mis )

2/ On dit toujours "to listen to something" !

3/ sick persons => problème de pluriel.

4/ who hidden => "hidden" est le participe passé de "to hide"

5/ "advice" n'est jamais utilisé au pluriel.
=> "to advise" = conseiller

Hello!

I suppose that they behave like this (badly) in order to contradict parents' advice

Advice = des avis/conseils
To ask for advice,
How much advice did he give you? We can no say how 'many' advice. But I'm no sure about this.
To want some/an advice on…
Un conseil, un seul = a piece of advice.

In fact everyone has a special linking for

No, alfa, you can't say "how many advice". Since "advice" is uncountable, you have to use "much" but all your other sentences are correct.

Maybe it'd be better to say "... their parents' advice".

Just a note on the phrase 'on (the) one hand...': if you put the 'the' in it sounds a little bit slangy to my ear and would be okay perhaps in spoken English, but the 'proper' expression is 'on one hand...' (used with 'on the other hand...'), and I think the latter would be more appropriate in this text.

Hello again,

the reality in life = la Réalité en vrai ou comme elle est vécue
the reality of life = la Réalité de la vie

A vous de juger,
Merci

I advise everybody to listen to "hard" music (this is how "lamusica" called it).
I listen to that sort of music, and I have no trouble with my parents and their advice!
(same case with all my friends who listen to that music too... )

I agree in part that music can be a form of rebellion. J'aurais dit plutôt:
I agree partially...
- In the one hand, I think that music is, first, a form of liberty as everybody can listen music like rap, rock, hard-rock, classical, pop etc.;
On (et non In) the one hand, music is principally about a form of liberty.
- Everybody can listen music like rap, rock, hard-rock, classical, pop etc.; J'aurais mis à la place:
In fact everyone has a special linking for, therefore people can choose music as they see fit and listen to it as their wish like rap, rock, hard-rock, classical, pop etc.;
- even the poor, the rich or even the sick persons.
Ou bien, however poor, rich or sick they are all can fit the music they like.
- Music often reflects reality, the life so Music is an expression's liberty.
Conseil: In fact, music reflects the reality in/of life, and so/therefore it's the whys (or it's for that reason) music expresses liberty too.
- But on the other hand, I see more and more youngs who hidden behind music. Young = adjective, ne prend pas de 's', donc young people or teenagers. Ensuite 'hidden' est au participe passé, donc on dira: young people are hiding.
Je suggère: On the other hand, more and more teenagers are hiding behind music ( or they are/become a music addicts).
- They often (indeed always) listen "hard" music, they also assist at concerts and in these manifestations, they can become in trance so when they listen this music I'm totally sure that it's a form of rebellion, perhaps to contradict parents' advices, to assert oneself...
When they attend a pop concert, they generally fall into a deep trance by listening to "hard" music. I'm pretty sure that this type of event expresses a form of rebellion. I suppose that they behave like this (badly) in order to contradict their parents' advice, to assert their power/rebellion...
- For some people, music rhymes with frame of mind so in so music can become a call of help.
For some people, music fits the mind's needs; therefore music can be a sign of a cry for help.
Il me reste encore 1249 mots.
Merci
