Right construction/help
Message from vectrum posted on 31-07-2012 at 21:35:52 (D | E | F)
Hello,

Could you help me please as
I think the following is not very natural.
13. Monica's English is very fluent although she makes quite a lot of mistakes.
Native speakers will say "Monica's English is very fluent although she makes mistakes quite a lot".
or
"Monica's English is very fluent although she makes a lot of mistakes".
It is in the 28th row of Starter Pack (of topic adjectives & adverbs).
Thank you for your help.

Hello!
I agree with notrepere.

Both of these sentences are said:
"Monica's English is very fluent although she makes quite a lot of mistakes."
"Monica's English is very fluent although she makes a lot of mistakes".

The only difference between the two sentences is how much you are stressing the amount of mistakes Monica makes.

"Monica's English is very fluent although she makes mistakes quite a lot." -- This sentence, however, sounds a bit odd because of the placement in the sentence of "quite a lot."

Thanks for your response but allow me to say that I expressed my view regarding the construction/usage issue - I never wanted any help in this matter. Being grammatically correct doesn't prove all as far as the spontaneity is concerned.
Bye.
