Hi, I want to know if there is any difference between the two close terms of "God" and "Heaven" as occur in "Man proposes, God disposes" and "Man proposes, Heaven disposes". To me, in the context referred to above "Heaven" is the substitution for "God". However, I am not sure if a native speaker of English shares the same response with me. I am rally in need of your help. Thank you!

Hi Oscar3 ! Though I'm not a native English speaker I can tell you that you're right. "God" and "Heaven" are interchangeable in those expressions.
It's quite the same in other expressions such as " (good) heavens! ; Heaven knows I've tried ! ; Heaven (only) knows !". "Heaven(s)) = God.

God means "Dieu" whereas heaven means "ciel" or "paradis".
In some expressions, heaven means "Dieu".
Ex: Thank heaven : Dieu merci! Heaven (alone) knows : Dieu seul le sait
I think heaven is a synonym of God in your text.

God lives in Heaven, just like the President lives in the White House.
Sometimes we say "The White House said today ..." when we really mean the President (or his administration).
Similarly, we can say "Heaven knows" to mean "God knows".

Hi there,
For sure there is a dofference between God and haeven, it's God who made this heaven, so, everything on this earth is controled thanks to God not to the sky.
It's true that there are a lot of things in the sky (God, angels...). If you need more information about this subject you have just to ask me and I'll do it with a very big pleasure. Sincerely yours, FARID.

There is not really any difference between "Heaven" and "Paradise."
The word "heavens" (lowercase "h" ) generally refers to the sky, to outer space, to the universe other than Earth.
The word "paradise" (lowercase "p" ) generally refers to any place where life is wonderful, with no problems whatsoever.
"Heaven" is God's kingdom, where God lives (even though He's omnipresent), and where Christians hope to go after they die. While the name comes from the idea that we feel God is above us in the sky, most (if not all) Christians believe that Heaven is in fact not a part of this universe, and it is only possible to go there after you die.
"Paradise" is another word for "Heaven", since Heaven is, after all, the ultimate paradise.
