    Ah! voici les premiers modaux ?
    1-There used to be a departement store here
    Il y avait un grand magasin ici, avant.

    2-There must be a meeting at town now
    Il doit y avoir une réunion à la mairie (si tu sous-entends "hall) maintenant.
    Parce que le "at" devant town ne m'inspire pas pour traduire "en ville"
    Am I right ?

    3-There could be a traffic jam when it's finished.
    Il pourrait y avoir un embouteillage quand ce sera fini

    4-There would be more traffic jams if there weren't any traffic lights
    Il y aurait PLUS d'embouteillages s'il n'y avait pas de feux de signalisation.

    et merci !!!!
    Marie

    Frédérique, tu es très prolifique, c'est un plaisir

    1-There used to be a departement store here;
    Il y avait un magasin ici

    2-There must be a meeting at town now
    Il y a une réunion en ville

    3-There could be a traffic jam when it's finished.
    Il y aura des embouteillages quand ce sera fini

    4-There would be more traffic jams if there weren't any traffic lights
    Il y aurait beaucoup plus de traffic s'il n'y avait pas de feux de signalisation

    Merci.

    Bonsoir,
    Merci Frederiquebain pour ces exercices

    1-There used to be a department store here;
    • Il y avait un grand dépôt ici

    2-There must be a meeting at town now
    • Il y a une réunion maintenant en ville

    3-There could be a traffic jam when it's finished.
    • Il y aura un embouteillage quand ce sera fini

    4-There would be more traffic jams if there weren't any traffic lights
    • Il y aurait beaucoup d’embouteillages s’il n’y avait pas les feux de signalisation.

    A très bientôt.
    Merci.

    Voici ma traduction:

    1-There used to be a departement store here;
    Il y avait un magasin ici, avant.

    2-There must be a meeting at town now
    I doit y avoir une réunion en ville ce soir.

    3-There could be a traffic jam when it's finished.
    Il devrait y avoir un embouteillage quand elle sera finie.

    4-There would be more traffic jams if there weren't any traffic lights.
    Il y aurait plus d'embouteillages s'il n'y avait aucuns feux de circulation.

    Cet exercice est intéressant mais les auxiliaires de mode le rendent peut-être plus difficile à traduire pour un débutant.

    1-There used to be a departement store here;
    Il y avait un grand magasin ici.

    2-There must be a meeting at town now
    Il doit y avoir une réunion en ville tout de suite.

    3-There could be a traffic jam when it's finished.
    Il se peut qu'il y ait un embouteillage quand ce sera fini.

    4-There would be more traffic jams if there weren't any traffic lights
    Il y aurait surrement plus d'embouteillages si il n'y avait pas de feu tricolores.

    je ne vois pas où pouvons nous mettre il y aura, il y a, il y avait, car cette exercice me semble plutôt sur la modalité.

    Je ne vois pas comment satisfaire à ton énoncé car les traductions donnent ceci non?

    1-There used to be a departement store here;
    Il y avait un grand magasin ici.

    2-There must be a meeting at town now
    Il doit y avoir une réunion en ville maintenant

    3-There could be a traffic jam when it's finished.
    Il se peut qu'il y ait un embouteillage quand ce sera fini

    4-There would be more traffic jams if there weren't any traffic lights
    Il y aurait plus d'embouteillages si il n'y avait pas de feu tricolores.

    C'est l'expression de l'existence avec there's et tu as raison, construit avec une tournure verbale ou un modal. Rien ne t'échappe
