Bonsoir,

Hello aimen7
1/ What bothered me was that I couldn't find my passport.
2/ Everything (which) we ate came from tins / Could "which" be redundant here? ->Everything we ate came from tins.
3/ My neighbour plays violin at 4 o'clock in the morning, which really gets on my nerves.
4/ I've forgotten what you told me.
5/ What you're going to learn will amaze you.
6/ We laughed, which made him furious.
7/ What annoyed / upset him is that we laughed (is the fact we laughed).
8/ They allowed us to visit their house, which we thanked them for.
9/ He does everything he pleases and doesn't care about what his parents think.
10/ He apologised very politely, which we all appreciated.
11/ What I need is a good dictionary.
12/ What I liked best were the clowns at the end of the show.

Many thanks for your exercise!

Bonsoir

What worried/bothered me, was (that) I couldn't find my passport.

Jamais : All what.
Everything/All (that) we ate came from tins (of food).

Celle-ci constitue l’antécédent de which.
My neighbour plays THE violin at 4 o’clock in the morning, which annoys me terribly/ terribly gets on my nerves.

I have forgotten what you told me.

5-Ce que vous allez apprendre vous étonnera.
(Ceque=what)
What you are going to learn will amaze/surprise/astonish you.

We laughed, which made him furious/cross.

7-Ce qui l'a vexé, c'est que nous avons ri.
(Ce qui=what), sujet.
What made him upset/what upset/irritated/offended him...is that we laughed.

They allowed us to visit their house, which we thanked them for.

He does whatever/everything/all (that) he likes and doesn’t care about what his parents think about it.

He apologized very politely, which we all were grateful for/which we all liked, appreciated.

What I need is a good dictionnary.

What I liked, enjoyed best/preferred WERE the clowns at the end of the show.
"Were" et non pas “was” car le verbe qui suit « what » peut s’accorder en genre et en nombre avec le nom qui suit. Donc « were » s’accorde avec « the clowns ».
A bientôt.

Bonjour,

Pour la phrase 4, je dirais plutôt I have forgotten what you told me about, car I have forgotten what you told me serait mieux traduit par "J'ai oublié ce que vous m'avez dit"

Pour la dernière phrase, j'ajouterais "the most" à like et enjoy pour qu'ils aient vraiment le même sens que prefer.

L'exercice était très intéressant pour what et which !

Bonjour,
"the most" est parfait aussi. "Tell about", phrase 4 est aussi correct. Thanks.
