Let's suggest 102/ Taking it easy 48

Hello dears,

Another easy exercice that everyone can do! Let's write together...

1) If you could change one thing about the world today, what would it be?

2) Describe a moment in your life (or an imagined situation) that changed the way you see things.

3) Do you like playing board games at home or in game bars?

Go for it! with THE FORCE.

Hello dear Friends!

Here is already the first ANSWER to my questions. Thanks for being so faithful and eager to work...

ANSWER A: Topic one: please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy to you.

If I had a magic wand to change the world, I would spread LOVE all over the planet. With just a little LOVE in everything, anything becomes possible. Self-love, love for others, because Love means respect, kindness, understanding, tolerance. No more hatred, no more tyranny, no envy or jealousy either. No one would covet their neighbour's land, food, and shelter- everything for everyone- because love also means sharing.
The Earth is large enough and has enough resources for everyone. Love one another. Make love, not war. The message is not new. With my wand, people and governments would finally understand that love should replace threats and reprisals, and the pride of those who seek to be the most powerful in the world would be replaced by goodness and humility... Please, instead of preparing for war to have peace, I would say: SPREAD LOVE.

for your help.

Hello!

Magie!.

If I had a (magic) (not necessary, a wand is a magic device) wand to change the world, I would spread LOVE all over the planet. With just a little LOVE in everything, anything becomes possible.( Love for oneself, love for others*, because love means respect, kindness, understanding, tolerance. No more hatred, no more tyranny, no envy or jealousy either. No one would covet their neighbour's land, it ( would have there would be food, shelter and all the necessary raw materials for everyone because love also means sharing.

* Without "for", the first love is a verb, the second a noun. "Self-love" does not fit here because it could be understood as "narcissism".

Hello dears,

ANSWER B: Topic 2: Describe a moment in your life (or an imagined situation) that changed the way you see things.

I was travelling through Tibet, and I had the opportunity to visit a buddhist monastery. I don't know how it could have happened, but at one moment we went into a room where a young monk was having his exam. An older monk was asking questions to the young man, and apparently the answers were not always exactly the right ones... But what struck me was that the older monk was not angry or depreciative at all ; in fact both of them were laughing, just as if the mistakes were some pleasant jokes! I forgot to say that I was a young teacher at that time... I wouldn't say it totally changed my way of conducting exams, but I have always remembered that moment, without knowing exactly what to make of it... Maybe, even unconsciously, it brought a touch of 'Zen' to my practice ?

Please, indicate possible mistakes, and underline what looks clumsy to you. for your help!

Hello!

ANSWER B: Topic 2: Describe a moment in your life (or an imagined situation) that changed the way you see things.

Again a very good text. I would rewrite the first sentence to avoid "and".

I was travelling through Tibet, and I had the opportunity to visit a buddhist monastery. I don't know how it could have happened, but at one moment we went into a room where a young monk was having his exam. An older monk was asking questions to the young man, and apparently the answers were not always exactly the right ones... But what struck me was that the older monk was not angry or depreciative* at all ; in fact both of them were laughing, just as if the mistakes were some pleasant jokes! I forgot to say that I was a young teacher at that time... I wouldn't say it totally changed my way of conducting exams, but I have always remembered that moment, without knowing exactly what to make of it... Maybe, even unconsciously, it brought a touch of 'Zen' to my practice ?

* My spellchecker doesn't like this word. I have found it in Merriam-Webster but not in Cambridge dictionary. Moreover, even if "depreciative" existed, it would not be correctly used here.

Hello!

I suggest this (with gerold's help, thank you)

I was travelling through Tibet, and I had the opportunity to visit a buddhist monastery. While travelling through Tibet, I had the opportunity to visit a Buddhist monastery. I don't know how it could have happened, but at one moment we went into a room where a young monk was having his exam. An older monk was asking questions to the young man, and apparently the answers were not always exactly the right ones... But what struck me was that the older monk was not angry or depreciative nor did he show any contempt at all ; in fact both of them were laughing, just as if the mistakes were some pleasant jokes! I forgot to say that I was a young teacher at that time... I wouldn't say it totally changed my way of conducting exams, but I have always remembered that moment, without knowing exactly what to make of it... Maybe, even unconsciously, it brought a touch of 'Zen' to my practice ?

Hello!

happynutmeg!

But what struck me was that the older monk was not angry or depreciative deprecatory/disparaging* nor did he show any contempt at all ; in fact both of them were laughing, just as if the mistakes were some pleasant jokes! I forgot to say that I was a young teacher at that time... I wouldn't say it totally changed my way of conducting exams, but I have always remembered that moment, without knowing exactly what to make of it... Maybe, even unconsciously, it brought a touch of 'Zen' to my practice? No space before "?". But perhaps a full stop would be better as it's not really a question.

* It seems that a word or a judgment may be depreciative, not a person.
