Hello dears,

Another easy exercice that everyone can do! Let's write together...
1) What is your favourite series?
2) Should we yield to temptations, or resist them?
3) 'Actions speak louder than words'! Do you agree?
Go for it! with THE FORCE GO FOR IT!

Hello!

Voici donc notre ANSWER A :What is your favorite séries? Please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy to you!

Definitely Downton Abbey. I am not usually fond of séries but I came across Downton Abbey on Netflix and became a real fan ; it is kind of addictive.
It is so British, so funny, moving, smart, gentle, sensitive... I fell under the spell. It is the cream of the genre.
This saga follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and its servants in a country estate. Everyone knows their place. Genuinely conforting!
I appreciate the cohérence of historical setting and the characters. I love the authentic clothing : perfect dresses and hair styles.
The characters painting is accurate : strong characters indeed and great acting too.
I particurlarly loved Maggie Smith as Violet Crawley dowager Countess. Her witticism is unrivaled. All her ripostes are worth quoting.
"You Know me never complain never expain".
for your help!

Everyone knows their place ... Il est généralement admis d'employer au singulier they, them, their ... pour éviter de dire he or she etc. On peut préférer contourner le problème en disant They all know their place.

Hello dears,

Thanks for your suggestions and help.
LS 112: ANSWER B: topic 2) Should we yield to temptations, or resist them? Please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy to you!
For many reasons, I think everyone should yield to their temptations.
First of all, the temptation will logically disappear once satisfied, whereas if you resist, it may enslave you for ever. Of course this is not true for every kind of temptations, and we know a lot of them which turn into addictions, but let's keep it general, (and by the way the topic is not 'addictions')
Also, resisting temptations can lead to severe obsessions, even neurosis in the worst cases. Why would you impose yourself such psychological suffering, involving long and sometimes expensive medical treatments?
But above all, think of your family, of your friends, of your colleagues, who'll have to stand your bad mood and probably your aggressiveness... You'll put everyone through hell!
Therefore, my conclusion is : if you want to keep your mental health, your joie de vivre, your friends... yield to your temptations!

Hello dears,

ANSWER C: Topic 3: Actions speak louder than words. Do you agree? Please, indicate possible mistakes and underline what looks clumsy to you!
Speech is less reliable than action. Words must be supported by consistent actions.
An action shows the example and provides proof of the veracity of the words.
The action establishes a concrete model and demonstrates the commitment of a leader promoting loyalty, trust within a group.
Haranguing a crowd or a team is not enough.
A smooth- talker is not credible.
If you want to achieve excellent results with your team, you need to roll up your sleeves ; This is the best way to be listened to, understood, and followed up.

* I think the negation is more consistent with the overall reasoning.
Concerning who'll have to et you'll put, I don't know what the problem is.

Hello,

A very good text! I can't see any real mistake, gerold wrote.
For many reasons, I think everyone should yield to their temptations.
First of all, the temptation[ I think I wouldn't have put 'the', but would have written temptations in the plural, to give the word more strength a,d a more general value]** will logically disappear once satisfied, whereas if you resist, it may enslave (toO strong perhaps : subdue, subjugate, control?)[I would say: obsess] you for ever/ forever. Of course this is not true for every kind of temptations, and we know a lot of them which don't* turn into addictions, but let's keep it general, (and by the way the topic is not 'addictions')
Also, resisting temptations can lead to severe obsessions, even neurosis in the worst cases. Why would you impose
But above all, think of your family, of your friends, of your colleagues, who'll have to stand (to put up with) your bad mood and probably your aggressiveness... You'll put everyone through hell!
Therefore, my conclusion is : if you want to keep your mental health, your joie de vivre (italics or quotation marks), your friends... yield to your temptations!
* I think the negation is more consistent with the overall reasoning.
**I DO agree with gerold. Putting temptations in the plural gives more strength and especially a more general value to your sentence.
Concerning who'll have to et you'll put, I don't know what the problem is.Here, I had understood these two verbs as the consequence of what had been said before. Therefore, if you follow the tnse agreement, I'd put an unreal present, which, in my opinion is more logical with your purpose.
I'd put 'joie de vivre' with quotation marks.
This was a very good and humorous text and gerold gave very good suggestions to improve it.
