Comment traduire 'ON' ? Thème
Message de taconnet posté le 04-04-2010 à 20:36:44 (S | E | F)

Bonjour.

Comment traduire "ON" ?

Voici quelques directives.

One never knows

2- WE , YOU , THEY selon le sens.
In France we drink wine, but in England they drink a lot of tea.

3- PEOPLE si "on" représente un pluriel.
People were very fond of him.

4- SOMEONE si "on" représente un singulier.
Listen,someone's knocking at the door.

She was awarded a scholarship.

Remarque :

1) When it is too hot and you are thirsty, there is nothing like a tall glass of cool water.

2) I hadn't been told that one of the Wilsons' friend had wrecked their car.

3) Nobody can know the way she will react when (she is) told that in the country she's going to go to in order to join her husband, women aren't allowed to drive.

4) Listen ! Somebody's walking in the garden. Don't open the door, one never knows who they may be.

5) She had been robbed of a Picasso / A Picasso had been robbed from her, but it was the one she liked (the) least.

6) We can't say he'll ever set the Thames on fire / he's a bright spark, but he's yet a good guy.

7) Once again a police cordon ! We'll never arrive in time at the airport.

8) The Scots are said to be mean, but it may be only but slanderous / but one can think it's only but slanderous.

9) It's said that voting by proxy could incite to electoral fraud.

10) When we went and saw them in the middle of August, it was very windy and cold, as if it were in October / it was very windy and so cold that you could have thought it was in October.

Bonsoir Taconnet,

Let me try,

1- when we're hot and thirsty, there's nothing better than a full glass of cold water.

2- Nobody told me that one of the Wilsons' friend had ruined the vehicle.

3- We're unable to guess how her reaction will be, when she's told the women in the country where she is going to be reunited with her husband cannot drive.

4- Listen, someone walks in the garden. Don't open, We probably never know who he is.

5- Somebody had stolen her Picasso, however that was the one she liked the least.

6-

7- Again, another check-point, we will never be able to reach the airport in time.

8- It was told the Scots are stingy, but it seems to be just a slander(false statement).

9- The proxy votes are considered as a method to encourage the fraud.

10-When we went to visit them in the mid-august, It was very windy and so cold as it's in the month of October.

Thank you,

Bonjour,

I did not look at anyone else's work! I wasn't sure of "inventer la poudre" so I had to look that one up.

1- When you're hot and thirsty, nothing's better than a tall glass of cold water.

2- No one had told me that a friend of the Wilson's totaled their car.

3- You don't know how she's going to react when they tell her that women are not allowed to drive in the country where she's visiting her husband.

4- Listen! Someone's walking in the yard. Don't open the gate. You never know who it might be.

5- Someone had stolen one of her Picasso paintings, but it was her least favorite.

6- He may be as dumb as a box of rocks, but he's still a cool guy.

7- Yet another police roadblock! We'll never get to the airport on time.

8- They say that Scottish people are cheap, but you can say that is just a generalization.

9- They're claiming that proxy votes are a way to encourage fraud.

10- When we went to see them in mid August it was very windy and so cold that you thought it was October.

How'd I do?
