Très sincèrement, je ne m’attendais pas à une aussi forte participation; j’avais perdu l’habitude de poster des petits textes sans prétention pour les débutants.
Merci et bravo à tous d’avoir tenté l’expérience que je renouvellerai peut-être.
Merci aux ‘anciens’ également.
Un petit reproche à beaucoup d’entre vous : vous ne dites ni bonjour ni hello. Or vous n’envoyez pas votre message à un écran mais à une personne, moi en l’occurrence ; ce serait très gentil de faire preuve d’un peu de convivialité.
Passons à la correction avec quelques remarques;chacun se reconnaitra je pense.
1) il faut un ‘s’ à la 3e personne du singulier au présent, donc Pat answers
2) combien de temps = how long ; pas de ‘much’
3) 3 jours= pendant 3 jours = for …
4) passer un examen = to take/to sit for/to have an exam mais surtout pas to pass qui signifie réussir. Il faut passer l’examen (to take) avant de le réussir (to pass).
5) les jours prennent toujours une majuscule ..Saturday
6) pas de traductions en majuscules thanks !
7) on dit ‘next Saturday’, rien d’autre, pas de ‘the/on/in’.
8) pas de futur dans une subordonnée de temps ! on utilise un présent en anglais à la place du futur en français ; ici donc : she will come when she can ; et pas could comme j’ai vu…
A propos de futur,on n’utilise pas en même temps l’auxiliaire to be et will dans une question du genre 'is Sue will come...'; il faut alors introduire la forme continue (-ing) et dire 'will Sue be coming...'.
9) on ne met pas de mots français dans la traduction, on écrit ‘I’ et pas ‘i’
10) on ne donne pas plusieurs possibilités de traduction ; il faut choisir vos mots ; à vous de ne pas vous tromper.
11) on n’ajoute pas de mots qui ne sont pas à traduire ; il ne s’agit pas d’écrire un roman mais de traduire ce qui est écrit ; ai-je dit que Sue passait un examen à Los Angeles ?...
12) le présent forme négative se construit avec l’auxiliaire ‘do’. (she want not….quelle horreur !!)
13) le présent forme interrogative se construit avec l'auxiliaire 'do'. (when want you to come !!!)

'We must try to learn from our mistakes'.
Concernant 'est-ce que Sue viendra avec toi?' et 'non, elle ne peut pas.Elle passe un examen la semaine prochaine'...ne pourrais-t-on pas utiliser cette réponse avec le temps du futur puisque nous parlons d'avenir?
