Comment bien traduire ce much of a ?

Il s'agit d'une expression complète ' not to expect much of a thread from'...En traduisant le verbe 'to expect.....from', vous aurez un début de réponse ' much of a thread' est une image, à prendre au sens figuré qui renforce le verbe 'to expect'...

Il nous faudra la phrase complète pour voir le contexte. De plus, vouliez-vous dire "threat (menace)" au lieu de "thread (fil)"?

I'm always interested in idioms and expressions.
"do not expect much of a thread to America's green card": as the others have said, it's hard to help you without a broader context.
At face value, I'd say it could mean: "don't expect the way to obtaining a green card to be an easy path, you'll have to fight your way to get"...
Thread would then mean in this case a "fil conducteur", "voie facile", etc.
I'm eager to see what the native speakers will have to say,

HelloYes, without a context, it's impossible to say. "much of a threat" seems more likely, but it could be referring to a "thread" as in a series of posts on a particular topic. That is, don't expect too much discussion about this topic.

Not much of a thread ( comme " stuff" ou shtroumpf ou schimblick !!) s'adapte un peu à toutes les sauces ..mais il y a " expect ".

C'est bien beau en théorie, mais il ne faut pas s'attendre à ce que ça fasse vraiment d'ombre à la Green Card américaine.

I agree with robertbrou and notrepere, the key to the answer surely lies in the spelling: threaT instead of threaD. It is the only one that really makes sense.
As for translations, everyone will now be able to make a suitable one.
