here are some sentences I've translated. It would be nice if someone could check on them
and pinpoint my mistakes so that I can correct them.

1. L’autre jour, mon frère m’avait dit au téléphone : « Je viendrai te chercher à l’aéroport demain. ».
The other day, my brother had told me on the phone: 'I'll come and/to pick you up at the airport tomorrow.'
2. Papa a pris une place de parking pour handicapé. Maman était consternée.
Father took a disabled spot in the car park. Mother was flabbergasted.
3. Les Italiens et les Français font mieux la cuisine que les Anglais et les Américains.
Italian and French people's cooking is better than the British and American people's one.
4. J’habite Londres depuis la fin de la guerre. Je connais les Webb depuis quinze ans.
I've been living in London since the end of the war. I've been knowing the Webbs for fifteen years.
5. Elle et moi jouons souvent au tennis ensemble. Elle joue mieux que moi.
She and I play often the tennis together. Her playing is better than mine. / She plays a better way than me.
6. S’attendent-ils à ce que vous les conduisiez à la gare en voiture ? J’espère que non.
Are they explecting you will drive them to the railway station? I hope they don't /I hope no.
7. Les États-Unis sont fiers de leurs grandes villes.
The United States is proud of its big cities.

flabbergasted, c'est être sidéré, en rester baba, ne pas en croire ses yeux. J'aurais dit appalled.
3. Les Italiens et les Français font mieux la cuisine que les Anglais et les Américains.
Italian and French people's cooking is better than the British and American people's one.
Que c'est lourd !

She and I play often the(inversez et pas de the) tennis together. Her playing is better than mine. / She plays a better way (maladroit way ne peut pas être cod de play) than me. She plays better than me/than I/than I do.
6. S’attendent-ils à ce que vous les conduisiez à la gare en voiture ? J’espère que non.
Are they explecting you will drive them to (give them a lift to) the railway station? I hope they don't /I hope not.

I didn't know that word,

The Italian and the French cook better than the British and the Americans. I didn't know either it was possible to say 'the French,' 'the Italian' etc.

The + adj substantivé suivi d'un verbe pluriel fait référence au peuple entier, à la nation : The French like to eat snails, The English like to drink tea.
