Correction death penalty

Bonjour à tous,
J'aurais souhaité vous soumettre ma rédaction sur le thème suivant, afin que vous puissiez me dire si vous voyez d'éventuelles erreurs: Écrire une lettre au gouverneur du Mississipi en donnant son point de vue sur la peine de mort. Je vous remercie infiniment pour votre aide.
Today, capital punishment is an important question in our society. Let me weigh the pros and cons of that issue.
Firstly, it must be admitted that the fear of death can deter criminals from commiting crimes, however I thinkk that it is a crual and barbaric sentence. Indeed 6 person were killed since 1976 by lethal injection only in Mississipi.
Futhermore, people would be innocent. Moreover, we must not forget that it is inhuman to wait 10 years in death row. For instance, John B. Nixon, who was killed in Mississipi, wait for 20 years before ton be killed at 77 years old!
We cannot overlook several other aspects of the problem: the death penalty doesn't reduce the number of violent crimes, ans violates human rights. The 8th amendment of Constitution bans "crual and unusual punishment" while Capital Punishment continue to be apply to Mississipi state.
All in all, a life sentence could be worse than death penalty, therefore you should convert this sentence in prison for life.
