Dear John,
How are you? Have you had a good holiday? Me, I spent a great holiday and I will try to explain them to you as best as I can.

First, in July, I worked as a student in a restaurant in liege. I really enjoyed working in this restaurant because there was a very good atmosphere. The team that worked with me was really friendly and the majorities of customers were friendly and they often gave me a tip.

Then, from June 26 to 6 I went to Spain with my brothers and my parents. The day of departure, we left the house about five o'clock in the morning to fly to 7:00. We arrived in Benidorm to about 10 hours. As soon as we got there, we felt the sun on us, it was really nice. We stayed ten days and we did a lot of activities. We have been in amusement parks, we have also been on the beach to walk, swim or simply sunbathing. One day I'm lost and nobody spoke French so I tried to speak English for ask my way to people. It was a good experience.

When we returned, I went directly to my brother in Mons, but we could not do a lot because he worked all day.

Finally, the last two weeks of vacation, I stayed home to study because i have a resit exam in English. I really want to succeed.

Until your next letter, I wish you my most sincere greetings.

je vous remercie d'avance beaucoup.

Hello!

Dear John,
How are you? Have you had [utilisez 'Did you have'] a good holiday? Me, [pas naturel en anglais] I spent [pas le meilleur mot] a great holiday and I will try to explain them to you [pas naturel: 'to tell you about it' est mieux] as best as I can.

First, in July, I worked as a student in a restaurant in liege. I really enjoyed working in this restaurant because there was a very good atmosphere [pas naturel: 'there was a very good work environment']. The team that worked with me was really friendly and the majorities [singulier] of customers were friendly and they often gave me a tip.

Then, from June 26 to 6 (the 6th to 26th of June) I went to Spain with my brothers and my parents. On the day of departure, we left the house about five o'clock in the morning to fly to 7:00 (for a 7 a.m. flight). We arrived in Benidorm to about 10 hours (at around 10 o'clock). As soon as we got there, we felt the sun on us it which was really nice. We stayed ten days and we did a lot of activities. We have been [verbe 'to go' au passé] to amusement parks, [manque préposition] we also have [verbe 'to go' au passé] been on (to) the beach to walk, swim or simply to sunbathe ing. One day I'm (I got) lost and nobody spoke French so I tried to speak English for ask my way to people [mal dit; pas naturel: 'to ask for directions']. It was a good experience.

When we returned, I went directly to my brother [c'est-à-dire la maison de ton frère?] in Mons, but we could not do a lot because he worked all day.

Finally, the last two weeks of vacation, I stayed home to study because i have a resit exam in English. I really want to succeed [d'accord; 'do well' c'est plus naturel].

Until your next letter, I wish you my most sincere greetings.

Why do you talk about your July vacation before June?

Cordialement.

Hello,
J'ai la même question, notrepere
We are going to need the year after the month and the date, je pense
Regards,

Hello may, I think it's safe to assume that the year is implied in this case.

Hello, thank you for your answer.
It 's very nice.
I correct my preparation and I want to know what you think about it?

How are you? Did you have a good holiday? I spent (j'ai regardé dans le dictionnaire et il fait écrit : temps, vacance--> to spend. Êtes-vous sûr?) a great holiday and I will try to tell you about it as best as I can.

First, in July, I worked as a student in a restaurant in liege. I really enjoyed working in this restaurant because there was a very good work environment. The team that worked with me was really friendly and the majority of customers were friendly and they often gave me a tip.

Until your next letter, I wish you my most sincere greetings.

Tu as passé de bonnes vacances? = Did you have a good holiday?
J'ai passé une bonne journée = I had a good day.

I had (et non pas spent) a great holiday and I will try to tell you about it as best as I can.

Exact!

When we returned, I went directly to the home of my brother in Mons, but we could not do a lot because he worked all day. However, we found time to go to do pinball. It was very amusing. I look forward to returning to his home.

Finally, the last two weeks of vacation, I stayed home to study because i have a resit exam in English. I really want to do well. I also redecorated my room.

"However, we found time to go to and do pinball."
Cette phrase est juste mais je dirais qu'il est mieux d'employer 'and' à la place de 'to'.
Ton autre modification (I also redecorated my room) est correcte
Well done!

Bonsoir,
However, we found time to go to and do pinball.
(Il me semble qu'il y a deux actions d'ici dans votre correction et le sens du context n'est pas claire to go ..where? and do pinball
" D'aller faire du pinball ", il y a une action seulement, et on peut traduire par: " go to play/do pinball " ou simplement " play/do pinball "
Alors, selon moi c'était mieux comme suit:
We found time to go to play pinpall/ We found time to play pinpall
Cordialement

Je suis anglais et je n'ai jamais dit "to go to do something"
J'emploie plutôt le mot 'and'. "To go and do something"

Réponse: My holiday-correction de may, postée le 21-08-2010 à 15:13:56 (S | E)
Bonjour,

Donc, We found time to do/play pinball est la meilleure traduction, je pense!
A bientôt,
P.S: I have never denied the fact Tu es Anglais

Bonjour!

Oui, on dit "to go and play" en anglais américain aussi.

Let's go and play pinpall. (Does anyone play pinball anymore?) Ou, on dit "Let's go play pinpall".

On ne dit pas "let's go DO pinball". Mais, on dit "Let's DO the Puyallup"

Lien Internet

Regarding "spend" or "spent". It works for specific time-frames and events:

We spent a month in France. (Reverso)
We are spending time at our in-laws.
She spent a lot of time traveling. (Oxford)
We spent the day at the beach (Macmillan)
I spent a year in Budapest (Collins)

For "holiday" or "vacation", one tends to say:

We HAD a great holiday/vacation.
I hope you have a nice holiday/vacation.

NB: to go on holiday =
to go on vacation =

Bonjour,
However, we are not going to make the poster confused about the correction. The best tranlation, according to me, is:
We found time to play pinball when the verb go is completely unnecessary here.
How does that sound?
Regards,
P.S: I also agree with you On ne dit pas "let's go DO pinball". Mais, on dit "Let's DO the Puyallup"

Hello,
Après les verbes come,go,try, wait à l'infinitif ou à l'impératif, on emploie généralement and + verbe au lieu de to + infinitif.

I'm going to try and answer you
Come and have a cup of tea
Go and see who is coming
Wait and see

Best wishes.
