Bac/Places and forms of power
Message de svetlanagorby posté le 06-06-2015 à 18:59:38 (S | E | F)
Bonjour,

I am going to deal with the notion places anf forms of power. There are different kinds of power : the first three power are the government’s power, legislative, executive and judicial powers. For many years, new powers have influenced people. There are known as the fourth and fifth power. The fourth power is the power of the media and the press. The fifth power is the power of the people, for instance the demonstration or the associations. I decided to talk about the fight against the government and the peoples, to see through which means we can struggle for the power. In a first part I will talk about the fifth power, then the fourth and finally I’ll talk about the power of the lobbies.

This movement is quite born spontaneously on September 17, 2011, in the New York City's Wall Street financial district after a call to occupy Wall Street. This appeal was from the Canadian’s magazine “Adbusters”, which was against the capitalism. 2000 persons have decided to answer to that call and have occupied day and night a public park, the Zuccoti Park, which was nicknamed “the liberty plaza”. It was near of the New-York Stock Exchange.
This demonstration receiving global attention, the news from the entire world had their camera on the demonstrators. The main issues raised by Occupy Wall Street were social and economic inequality, greed, corruption and the perceived undue influence of corporations on government—particularly from the financial services sector. The OWS slogan, "We are the 99 ", refers to income inequality and wealth distribution in the U.S. between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population.
There were students, jobless, young anarchists, young workers, some left-wing unions and even some influential persons decided to show their support. For instance there was Kanye West and Michael Moore.
This movement shows that the peoples can have power even if they aren’t rich. If a people decided to be heard, they can forced the government to heard them because there are too numerous to be ignored. As they said during the occupy wall street movement, they are the 99% , they can rule the world if they want to.
We can find a lot of situation where the fifth power acts, one of the most important example of this power is green peace.

Now I’m going to talk about the fourth power, it’s the power of the press, the media. To illustrate this power I decided to talk about an interview of Charlton Heston by Michael Moore. In 2002, Michael Moore has used this interview to produce his documentary movie: Bowling for Columbine. This documentary draws his inspiration from a news item, the massacre of 12 students and one teacher by two teenagers in April, 1999 in the Columbine High School.
Moore questions himself about the role of the arms industry and the role of the National Rifle Association in this massacre. In order to do his movie he decided to interview Charlton Heston, he was the president of the NRA to 1998 from 2003. The NRA, the National Rifle Association, it is an American nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States… Especially the right to keep and bear arms.
During its interview Moore asks to Charlton Heston why he bears arms and if there are reasons to where arms. Charlton Heston doesn’t have really argument; he said that he bears loaded arms because the second amendment allows him to bears it. And he never been assaulted and he doesn’t feel in danger. Then, Moore explains that the crime rate of the USA is higher than the crime rate of major countries of the world, Heston replies that it’s because of the history of the America and not because of the arms. At the end of the interview Moore asks him if he wants to apologize to the victims of the gun, he shows him a picture of girl killed during the massacre of columbine. Heston refuses to apologize and he runs away.
In 2003, he wins the Oscar of the best documentary movie and the Cesar of the best foreign movie with his movie bowling for columbine. These Awards show that the documentary has an impact on the people. It shows that the media can make people thinks about things which happening in the society.

Voici ma deuxième partie :

We can also talk about the movie the boat that rocked, it’s a 2009 British comedy film written and directed by Richard Curtis.
In 1966, numerous pirate radio stations broadcast to the United Kingdom from ships anchored in international waters, specializing in rock and pop music that is forbidden on BBC Radio. There is a fight between the government and the pirate radio. In spite of the government forbidden the rock and the pop music there are 25 million persons who listening that kind or radio in England. The pirate radios are a way that people uses to fight the government’s power. The most famous pirate radios are Radio Caroline and Radio London. At the end, the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) had broadcasted rock and pop music, so it’s a victory for the people even if the pirate radios have been closed before.
III) The lobbying

I am going to talk about the tobacco lobby. A lobby is someone who is send by his company to influence Washington in favour of his business. In order present the tobacco lobby I will talk about an extract of the movie “Thank you for smoking”. He was realized in 2005 by Jason Reitman. The scene takes place in two different places. In the 1st on, the scene takes place during a lecturing with DC politicians and Scientifics. They want to put a logo (skulls and cross bones) on each cigarettes’ packages.
The 2nd scene takes place in a tobacco company’s business meeting. They watch the lecturing and then they decided to find a solution to influence public opinion to sell their cigarettes. They want to make cigarettes glamorous, they want to make actors smoke on movie. People will do same to identify themselves to the actors.

This movie is great example to show how some persons can influence the government and the people. They succeed in stop the government’s action and to make the people do what they want.

To conclude, people can fight the strength of the government with demonstration, during the occupy Wall Street movement for example. With the media and the press, with the cinema and the radio. Some people can also use the lobby to fight against the government more discretely; they can influence the government in their favor. All this examples show that even if the government have generally the power, we can’t ignored that it’s the people who decided who is in the power and that people can rules the world. It’s the people who rule the world.

Hello !
Même coupé en 2, c'est bien trop long et irréaliste de vouloir retenir tout ça ... Mieux vaut faire un plan détaillé ... et l'apprendre ...
Je commence ... et on verra après ...
blue = wrong
green = suggestion
xxxx= clumsy
XXXX = missing elements.

I am going to deal with the notion XX places anf forms of power. There are different kinds of power : the first three powerS are the government’s power,(pas de génitif ici ...) legislative, executive and judicial powers. For many years, new powers have influenced people. There are known as the fourth and fifth powerS. The fourth power is the power of the media and the press. The fifth power is the power of the people, for instance (the) demonstrationS or (the) associations. I decided to talk about the fight against the government and the peoples, to see through which means we can struggle for the power(quite clumsy...). In a first part I will talk about the fifth power, then the fourth and finally I’ll talk about the power of the lobbies.

This movement is (X quite) born (X ici!)spontaneously on September 17, 2011, in the New York City's Wall Street financial district after a call to occupy Wall Street. This appeal was from the Canadian’s magazine “Adbusters”, which was against the capitalism. 2000 persons have decided to answer to that call and have occupied day and night a public park,(word order) the Zuccoti Park, which was nicknamed “the liberty plaza”. It was near of the New-York Stock Exchange.
This demonstration receiving global attention, the news from the entire world had their cameraS on the demonstrators. The main issues raised by 'Occupy Wall Street' were social and economic inequality, greed, corruption and the perceived undue influence of corporations on government—particularly from the financial services sector. The OWS slogan, "We are the 99 ", refers to income inequality and wealth distribution in the U.S. between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population.
There were students, joblessXXXXXX(here = an adjective), young anarchists, young workers, some left-wing unions and even some influential persons XXX XXXX decided to show their support. For instance there was Kanye West and Michael Moore.
This movement shows that the peoples can have power even if they aren’t rich. If a people decided to be heard, they can forced the government to heard them because there are too numerous to be ignored. As they said during 'the occupy wall street movement', they are the 99% , they can rule the world if they want to.
We can find a lot of situationS where the fifth power acts(forme en ing), one of the most important exampleS of this power is green peace.
Now I’m going to talk about the fourth power, it’s the power of the press, the media. To illustrate this power I decided to talk about an interview of Charlton Heston by Michael Moore. During its interview Moore asks to Charlton Heston why he bears'tense) arms and if there are reasons to where arms. Charlton Heston (tout ceci est au passé!!!)doesn’t have really argument; he said that he bears(temps et aspect!) loaded arms because the second amendment allows him to bears it. And he never been??? assaulted and he doesn’t feel in danger. Then, Moore explains that the crime rate of the USA is higher than the crime rate of major countries of the world, Heston replies that it’s because of the history of the America and not because of the arms. At the end of the interview Moore asks him if he wants to apologize to the victims of the gun, he shows him a picture of X girl killed during the massacre of columbine. Heston refuses to apologize and he runs away.
In 2003, he wins(comment oser mettre un présent simple à côté d'une date passée???) the Oscar of the best documentary movie and the Cesar of the best foreign movie with his movie bowling for columbine. These Awards show that the documentary has an impact on the people. It shows that the media can make people thinks about things which happening in the society.
