Find the missing vowels and unscramble the consonants in order to get the right word.

This week, the number of vowels is given in 9 out of 10 answers.

1- A sudden sharp pull; a jerk. ..... (k y n) 1

2- To stumble or hesitate. ..... (t f r l)

3- The stubs or ends of corn left in the ground when the stalks are cut. ..... (b b s t l) 2

4- A type of large fruit, or the plant on which it grows. ..... (d g r) 2

5- Not affected or moved in feelings, determination etc. ..... (m v d n) 3

6- A state of great excitement, fear etc. ..... (z r n f) 2

7- To stop or hinder (someone) from doing something. ..... (w r h t t) 1

8- To humble by punishment, suffering etc. ..... (s n h t c) 2

9- A trace of some quality in a person's character etc. ..... (r k s t) 2

10- To choose or decide not to do something or take part in something. ..... (t p) 1

Here is my work:
1- A sudden sharp pull; a jerk. (k y n) 1 yank = tirer un coup sec.
2- To stumble or hesitate. (t f r l) falter = faiblir, chanceler.
3- The stubs or ends of corn left in the ground when the stalks are cut. (b b s t l) 2 stubble = le chaume.
4- A type of large fruit, or the plant on which it grows. (d g r) 2 gourd = gourde.
5- Not affected or moved in feelings, determination etc. (m v d n) 3 unmoved = indifférent, insensible.
6- A state of great excitement, fear etc. (z r n f) 2 frenzy = frénésie…
7- To stop or hinder (someone) from doing something. (w r h t t) 1 thwart = déjouer, contrecarrer.
8- To humble by punishment, suffering etc. (s n h t c) 2 chasten = châtier, réprimander, punir.
9- A trace of some quality in a person's character etc. (r k s t) 2 streak = tendance.
10- To choose or decide not to do something or take part in something. (t p) 1 opt … manque : "OUT" si "not to do!", à moins que NOT soit faux ????
