The missing vowels/ 57
Message de marit64 posté le 03-01-2014 à 02:05:33 (S | E | F)
everybody!

Find the missing vowels and unscramble the consonants in order to get the right word.
Holidays are almost finished and it's time to work if we want to improve our vocabulary.
This time, the number of vowels is given in 5 out of 10 answers.

1- A machine, sometimes now electrical, for grinding coffee, pepper etc by crushing it between rough, hard surfaces. ..... (lml)
2- An imaginary sea creature with a human body down to the waist and a fish's tail. ..... (rdmm) 3
3- A bent wire for keeping a woman's hair in place. ..... (pnhr)
4- To sing in a trembling voice, as some birds do. ..... (bwlr) 2
5- To have earned as a right by one's actions, to be worthy of. ..... (rdvs)
6- A container used when watering plants. ..... (gct-nnwr) 4
7- A spraying apparatus containing chemicals for putting out fire. ..... (htgxrsn)
8- A terrible event, especially one that causes great damage, loss etc. ..... (tdrss) 3
9- The line formed by the sewing together of two pieces of cloth etc. ..... (ms)
10- To sparkle. ..... (rltgt) 2

Good luck and have fun!

I'll post the next exercise next Wednesday as usual.

Have a nice week and one more time...
