    Tongue twisters in English !
    Message de gizmo2937 posté le 09-01-2007 à 21:02:17 (S | E | F | I)

Just an answer to the Tongue twisters in French

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
Did Peter Piper pick a peck of pickled peppers?
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?

    An other :

    Betty Botter had some butter,
"But," she said, "this butter's bitter.
If I bake this bitter butter,
it would make my batter bitter.
But a bit of better butter--
that would make my batter better."

So she bought a bit of butter,
    better than her bitter butter,
and she baked it in her batter,
and the batter was not bitter.
    So 'twas better Betty Botter
bought a bit of better butter.

    And to finish :

She sells sea shells by the sea shore.
The shells she sells are surely seashells.
So if she sells shells on the seashore,
I'm sure she sells seashore shells.

    Give you the ball !

    1) A very short one!
The batter with the butter is the batter that's better!
Pronounce very quickly' and be careful to pronounce correctly
    -the "a" of batter,
    -the "u" of butter
    -and the "e" of better!

“batter” is a (liquid)mixture to make pancakes or to cover food before frying it .

    2) Try to repeat as many times as you can:
    Red lorry, yellow lorry.....

    3) Would you find these words easier to repeat?
    Red leather, yellow leather.....

Have a nice time and enjoy "tongue twisting"!

Two last one for tonight :

How many cookies could a good cook cook If a good cook could cook cookies? A good cook could cook as much cookies as a good cook who could cook cookies.

    and my favorite :

There was a fisherman named Fisher
who fished for some fish in a fissure.
Till a fish with a grin,
    pulled the fisherman in.
Now they're fishing the fissure for Fisher.

I must go but I'm coming back tomorrow.
    Good Night!

What about this one ? It's my favorite.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

I forgot to put the entire text ; here it is :
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck
if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could,
and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would
if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

    two-two was one too
    one-one won one race
    two-two won one too !

    Three others to add:

    Repeat several times:

    1. She saw six soldiers' shoulders!

    2. The sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick.

    3. Toy boat. Toy boat Toy boat

    Good Luck!!

These sentences may twist the tongue, but they still need to be written correctly! "Soldier's" is the possessive form of "soldier". You want the possessive form of "soldiers" since there are six of them.

    Hello jonquille and everyone!

-- I've tried repeating "toy boat"... even quickly... and my tongue doesn't seem to have to make any effort at all!
-- Nothing as difficult (for me anyway) as repeating non-stop-->"Red lorry, yellow lorry", or "Red leather, yellow leather"!
-- I love the "six soldiers' shoulders" one!... again, those "s" and "sh"...

What about trying this one? combining "s", "z" and "f"?

    Denise sees the fleece,
    Denise sees the fleas.
    At least Denise could sneeze
and feed and freeze the fleas
    .

Not difficult to learn by heart... with a bit of patience & perseverance.
    What do you think?
PS --> Careful, don't start giggling!

    some short ones :

    I would if I could! But I can't so I won't!

Love's a feeling you feel when you feel
you're going to feel the feeling you've never felt before.

The seething sea ceaseth; thus the seething sea sufficeth us.

Big black bugs bleed blue black blood but baby black bugs bleed blue blood.
