Comparatif et superlatif.
Message de marie11 posté le 25-10-2007 à 10:56:53

Bonjour.

Quelques rappels succincts.

short ──► shorter - long ──►longer

Attention à l'orthographe !

sad ──►sadder - happy ──► happier

Adjectif(ou adverbe) long ──► more + adjectif

expensive ──► more expensive
famous ──► more famous

Comparatifs irréguliers :

good ──► better
bad ──► worse

Double comparatif :

He's getting better and better ──► Il va de mieux en mieux.
It's more and more difficult ──► C'est de plus en plus difficile.

Allez, maintenant au travail -the sooner the better -

Niveau :
Correction : samedi 3 novembre 2007.

Hello !

1- This two twins resemble each other like two drops, but between the two bothers, Chuck is far more nice.
2- What a foul wheather ! My holiday has been fouled up. It has been the worse summer of my life.
3- Have you done the two exercices of math ?
- The first one was easier than the second one.
- You're right, the first one was the easiest of the two exercices.
4- Cathy is the one who works best in the class. She has always got the best marks of the class.
5- He earns three times as much geld as I do, but I have got fewer financial problems than him.
6- She goes on eating twice as much as me and she doesn't get fat.
It's more and more stunning!
7- The more a journalist is objective, the more one can rely on the articles he writes.
8- In the suburbs, most people are better accomodated than in the past.
9- The more I'm looking at you, the less I think that you resemble your father.
10- With a few dollars off, you can get a similar model as efficient.

Bonjour.

-Three times AS + adjectif + AS ...
ou
-Three times + comparatif + than...

Exception

Structure :

THE + comparatif + sujet + verbe , THE + comparatif + sujet + verbe
The bigger the town is , the more dangerous it is.

Voici ma proposition.

1- Those twin boys are as like as two peas (in the pod), but Chuck is by far the nicer.
2- What rainy weather ! My holyday has been spoiled. It has been the worst summer of my life.
3- Have you done the two maths exercises ?
- The first one was easier than the other one.
- That's right, the first one was the easier.
4- It's Cathy who works best in her class, she gets the best marks in the form.
5- He earns three times as much as me, but I've fewer financial problems than he has.
6- She keeps on eating twice as much as I do, and she doesn't put on weight. It's more and more amazing !
7- The more unbiased a journalist is, the more reliable the articles he writes are.
8- In those suburbs most people are better housed than they used to be.
9- The more I look at you, the less I find you look like your father.
10- For a few dollars less, you can have this similar model which is just as efficient.

The more I look at you, the less I find you look like your father.

In this sentence the verb " to find " means to think or feel a particular way about someone or something.

- I don't find him an easy person to get on with.
- She doesn't find it easy to talk about her problems.

As for the phrasal verb " to find out" it means : to get information about something because you want to know more about it , or to learn a fact or piece of information for the first time.

-How did you find out about the party ?
-I'll just go and find out what's going on outside.
